What is hair loss?
Every person loses around 100 hairs every day. However, just as much new hair grows from the scalp every day. Hair loss occurs when you lose more than 120 more hairs per day for a long time. then new hair is added. The hair then becomes thinner.
The most common form of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia (male hereditary baldness). This is common - and probably more than you think. 30% of men aged 30 have it to a greater or lesser extent. At the age of 70, that's 70%. While some of us see it by the age of 20, others can hold out until their older years. Chances are, you'll almost certainly see some degree of thinning.
What causes hair loss?
By far the most common cause of hair loss is the effect of DHT on hair follicles. DHT is a derivative of testosterone that shrinks the hair follicle, causing hair loss.

What causes hair loss in men?
The most common cause of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia (hereditary baldness). In androgenetic alopecia, the hair follicles are sensitive to DHT. DHT is a substance produced naturally by the body that causes the hair follicles to shrink until no more hair grows.
Other possible causes of hair loss include stress, thyroid problems, certain medications and autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata.
70% of men experience hereditary hair loss at some point in their lives. For 30% of men, it begins before the age of 30.
What is the difference between oral and topical (cream) finasteride?
Oral finasteride is a tablet (1 mg per day) that reduces the production of DHT throughout the body. Topical finasteride is a cream, lotion or spray that is applied directly to the scalp and acts locally.
Both inhibit DHT, the hormonal cause of hereditary hair loss. The effectiveness of both forms is comparable.
What is the best remedy for hair loss?
The most effective treatment depends on the cause and the stage of the condition. The best-researched combination is finasteride with minoxidil, both of which are backed by strong scientific evidence.

What is minoxidil and how does it work?
Minoxidil is a treatment for hair loss that improves blood flow to the scalp and stimulates hair follicles to remain in the growth phase for longer. It is available as a lotion or foam (2% and 5%) and as a tablet (oral minoxidil).
Topical minoxidil is applied to the scalp twice a day. Results are visible after 3 to 6 months. If you stop using it, hair loss will return within a few months.
Is it legal to buy finasteride online?
