What is hair loss?
Every person loses around 100 hairs every day. However, just as much new hair grows from the scalp every day. Hair loss occurs when you lose more than 120 more hairs per day for a long time. then new hair is added. The hair then becomes thinner.
The most common form of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia (male hereditary baldness). This is common - and probably more than you think. 30% of men aged 30 have it to a greater or lesser extent. At the age of 70, that's 70%. While some of us see it by the age of 20, others can hold out until their older years. Chances are, you'll almost certainly see some degree of thinning.
What causes hair loss?
By far the most common cause of hair loss is the effect of DHT on hair follicles. DHT is a derivative of testosterone that shrinks the hair follicle, causing hair loss.
