- Finasteride blocks the production of DHT and thus the impact of DHT on hair follicles.
- Finasteride ensures that when you suffer from hair loss, fewer new hair falls out and hair grows back where it fell out before.
- After 6-9 months, you will notice that hair grows in areas that were previously bald. If you stop taking finasteride, the new hairs will disappear again within half to 1 year.
What does Finasteride do and what do I use it for?
In low doses of 1 mg, Finasteride inhibits the effect of DHT on hair follicles.
Operation
Finasteride inhibits the effect of DHT. This allows the hair to grow again in places where growth had previously stopped. It is particularly effective on the bald spot on the crown.
Effect
After 6-9 months of use, you may notice hair growth in areas where it stopped growing before that time. For a lasting effect, you must use this remedy continuously. If you stop, the newly formed hairs will disappear again after half to one year.
What are possible side effects of Finasteride?
In addition to the desired effect, this medication may cause side effects.
The main side effects include the following:
Rarely < 2% of users
- Erection problems, less desire to have sex and problems with ejaculation or a reduced amount of seminal fluid (semen).
- In placebo users, the above side effect also occurs in < 2% of the users. The so-called nocebo effect; a user expects this side effect and that's why it occurs.
- After 5 years of use, the above side effect fell to < 0.3% in both the finasteride user and the placebo user, according to a study published in the European Journal of Dermatology.
Very rare < 1% of users
- Liver problems. You may notice this by a sensitive, swollen stomach or a yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin.
- Depressive feelings and heart palpitations.
- Chest pain.
