What is Minoxidil?
Minoxidil 5% is a proven effective medicine against hair loss and thinning hair. Minoxidil promotes hair growth by improving blood circulation to hair follicles. The first results are often visible within 3 to 6 months, with optimal effects after one year of consistent use. Minoxidil 5% can also be used to stimulate beard growth.

How fast do you get results from Minoxidil?
If you are going to use Minoxidil, it is important to be patient. Don't expect miracles within a few days, hair loss and growth are a gradual process. It may take 3 to 6 months before you see the first results. Some users of Minoxidil experience “shedding” in the first weeks of treatment. This causes old hair to fall out, so you seem to be temporarily suffering from extra hair loss. However, these old hairs make way for new, healthy hair. This is a normal part of the process and an indication that the treatment is working.
After consistent use of around 6 months, many users are starting to see a clear improvement. For most people, optimal results are achieved after 12 months. The treatment with Minoxidil 5% is very simple and can easily be incorporated into your daily routine:
- Preparation: Make sure your scalp is clean and dry before applying Minoxidil. Wash your hair if necessary and dry it completely. The Minoxidil is more easily absorbed by your scalp and hair follicles when they are dry or almost dry. You also prevent the chance that you will dilute the Minoxidil very much due to water that is present in the hair and on the scalp.
- Apply: Use the applicator to apply approximately 1 ml of the product evenly to the areas to be treated. 1 ml is approximately equivalent to 10 sprays.
- Massage in: Use your fingertips to gently massage the product into the skin so that it is well absorbed.
- Let dry: Ideally, let the product dry completely before using other hair products. This usually takes 2 to 4 hours. This is to prevent you from diluting the Minoxidil or getting it to areas that you may not want to treat.
- Repeat: Repeat this process twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after use to prevent unwanted hair growth on other parts of your body.
