In addition to the desired effect, azithromycin may cause side effects. The main side effects include the following:

Uncommon (affects 10 to 30 people out of 100)

• Gastrointestinal complaints, such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and flatulence.

Rare (affects 1 to 10 people in 100)

• Headaches, dizziness and sleep disorders

• Less able to see.

• Loss of taste, decreased sense of smell and smell strange smells. As a result, you may have less appetite.

• Rash, excessive sweating, itching.

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 100 people)

• Discoloration of the tongue and teeth.
